On July 25, 1959, the Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden, the first and oldest zoo in Asia and one of the famous existing landmarks of the city opened its doors to the public. The Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden or Manila Zoo is the oldest, largest and most popular zoo in the Philippines today It is visited by almost 2 million people annually. Managed by the Public Recreation’s Bureau (PRB) under Director Deogracias Manimbo who is also an engineer. It serves as one of the educational centers in the country where the viewing public can observe, discover and learn interesting facts.
